My Outbreak Missions:The Narrows Experience!

Outbreak Missions: The Narrows was too awesome; I can’t help but to blog it.

Last Saturday, October 19, 2013, me and my team of 7 went to Filinvest, Alabang for an experience of a lifetime.

Weeks ago, I found out that the next Outbreak Manila will be in Filivest City.

“Omg! Super lumapit na talaga sya sakin” was my initial reaction, thinking na it’s a sign that I should try the zombie run for myself na. Plus, this isn’t an ordinary run… it’s a mission…

Me, my 14-year old, veteran in zombie games sister Janine, my bro Nok and his evenly zombie addict friends: Jerrick, Zenk and Kaye, and my super boyfriend Ronn completed our TEAM.

October 19, came so quickly. We didn’t get a car so we ended up commuting from Calamba to Alabang. (Hindi hassle because the riding the bus part was an adventure na rin).

When we got to the Starting area, it was already too crowded. We didn’t waste time so we hurriedly claimed our flag belts. I needed to find Boardwalk’s booth also to claim my prize (3 extra life flags and a shirt) from their facebook contest. Buti nalang I won, I have this feeling that I am going to die half way through the mission.. lol. My boyfriend helped me searched for the booth, he’s making me calm also kasi according to him, I am panicking na. (I am panicking cause I am scared noh?)

O edi yun na nga, We found Boardwalk’s booth and got my prizes! Yayy! .. they even took a picture of me.

I hid my 3 extra lives on my socks because I knew they will come in handy. Not long enough, Wave 1-A was called to gather up on the Starting Line. This is it Pansit.

A boy even came out behind me whispering “The End is Near” It was kinda hilarious but yeahh, also scary.

We lined up. We didn’t have time to look for the other 3 members to complete our TEAM of 10, so we, TEAM TIMONGMALUSOG (haha.. funny name we thought for our team) flew off with just 7.

After 15minutes of waiting for our turn, hell’s gate finally opened up for us. And yes, there are zombies, and may I say, a horde of zombies.

Sgt.Guerrero (idk if that’s his name, I just remembered it while writing this)  gave us instructions, and on his cue, we ran like mad pitbulls.

My TEAM all went in one direction, hindi ko alam kung bat nagiba ako ng direksyon at piniling magisa. RULE NUMBER 1: NEVER GO ALONE, STAY WITH YOUR TEAM.. Shempre kasi easy prey ka.

Gitna palang nung road hinihingal na ko.  But no, RULE NUMBER 2: CHOOSE WHERE TO STOP, because the zombies were too aggressive. Nalampasan mo na sila babalikan ka pa nila, plus they are runners too.. nanghahabol talaga sila.

My boyfriend keeps on running back for me, kasi ako yung naiiwan sa team. There is also a part where two zombies cornered me, that’s when I lost 1 of my flags.. huhu..

I even say “Wait lang kuya” to one of the zombies and he told me“Okay wait lang”.. haha.. Zombies can be mabait din naman pala.

When we got to the Safe Zone, I’m telling my teammates na “Ayoko na” because I was already too exhausted, di ko na ata kaya pang tapusin yung race kung puro ganun lang. My sister is also saying na ayaw na nya. My team decided that we finish the mission and be suicidal. That is, we will not care about the flags anymore; no flag no chasing by the zombies. My sister gave up her 2 flags to my bro and I gave my 1 flag to my boyfriend; leaving us with 1 flags each.

After 10 years of resting; we decided to go on with the mission. Next part is a dark road with zombies, my teammates ran their asses off while me and my sister walked like we’re in a park. Haha.. Zombies still come towards us pero we kept telling them that we don’t have flags anymore. One of the zombies even said “Ate wala ka nang flag? Eto oh” giving us 1 more flag. Ofcourse, di na counted yun pero we took it pa rin. We even saw flags on our way and picked all of it… not knowing that it will come in handy.. RULE NUMBER 3: BE A SCAVENGER.

With still 1 flag left, we made it through the dark road. On the check point we saw a soldier NPC who gave us two options: to go on a mission to pass a message to his fellow comrades and gain extra lives or just go straight to the mall; the easy way.

We chose the mall. (Some of us needs to pee kasi.. haha). The way was zombie free. Pero you can feel the “omg there will be zombies” feeling.

There’s a water station near the mall entrance so we were able to hydrate ourselves. Another good thing is that we can use the mall’s cr to pee but it’s for everyone so we had to use the comfort room with boys. Lol.

After recharging, we decided to move on with the mission.

Next is the dark food court; Syempre, meron pa ding zombies, that wouldn’t be Outbreak Missions kung walang zombies noh.. and we were warned that there would be hundreds of them. Some says that the food court part was one of the hardest but not for me. It was a “no screaming” challenge. Zombies are blind so they are sensitive to sounds. Me and my sister just walked quietly and reached the end point, no zombies chased us. Yung isang teammate ko nga tumunog bigla yung alarm nung watch nya sinugod sya nung batang zombie, naitulak nya tapos di sya tinantanan. Hahaha.

At this point, Team Timongmalusog is officially composed of 10 team members. We were able to adopt three girls (We forgot to get their names though). We all moved on to the 2nd floor were the next mission awaits us. Muntik pa ngang magkastampede kasi nagtakbuhan yung teams behind us so nagpanic lahat at nagmadaling umakyat ng escalator.

On the next mission, we were warned by a woman in orange suit that the zombies we would encounter are deaf: the only way to pass through them is to act like a zombie.. (my fave part).

We all did act like a zombie, which is funny because karir na karir talaga, some are even grunting like zombies.

After that Kaye, my teammate, handed us a huge bottle of mineral water “Napulot ko..” Malinis naman siguro so those who are already thirsty had a drink.

We went up to 3rd floor, sa may X-site.. Girl wearing orange suit asked us that it’s the only point where you can ask for your flags to be stapled. We lined up for a couple of minutes but it’s taking too long so we decided to go on. Our team had the an idea (this is a strategy as well) to use the red flags we collected as dummy flags or decoy flags or fake flags.. just to save our remaining lives. (RULE NUMBER 2 remember?).. we aren’t cheating… we are strategizing.. lol.

Girl in orange suit gave us instructions not to listen to people that we meet along the way. (Just to say, girls in orange suits on this part of the game were so sungit.. they are smiling but they can be masungit).

Another strategy of my team is the RULE NUMBER 4: WALK IN PACKS..  Some teams also share the same rule; let the braver lead the way. We would wait for other teams before moving on.

As warned, we met another NPC giving us two options.. to go right and continue with the mission or head straight and take time to listen to this tortured man. We chose option 2.

The tortured man; member of the narrows (as he said) told us to go straight to the 4th floor. He also warned us not to trust those people in orange because they are up to no good and not be fooled by their smiles; because they will just lead us to Dr. Alfonso Adarna. Now we are confused with who to trust; we took time to have a meeting and strategize.

Should we trust the People in orange jump suits? or should we trust the tortured man?

Both groups are convincing but I came up with this theory. In Adarna Initiative the right cure was given by Dra. Vera Adarna; if The Narrows story is a sequel of Adarna Initiative story, then we must trust the people that will lead us to Dra.Vera.

My team considered my theory so we followed what the tortured guy said. Delikado to, pag mali ang theory ko ako pa ang nagpatalo sa team namin. Haha.

Tortured man also told us that we should not go to the ground floor if the orange people told us to do so; go to 2nd floor, he said.

The path he directed was malayo but it wasn’t zombified at all; in fact it’s a safer route. We met some teams we encountered right before we chose to listen to the tortured man (yes, they chose a different path from us but we both ended up in a same area). “Dito rin kayo pinapunta?” said a girl. “Oo” sabi namin. “So pinalayo lang pala yung dinaanan nyo”.

So all of us are led to the 4th floor’s fire exit… but only some had the information not to go straight to the ground floor. We, my team, had a meeting… again.

We are sticking to what the tortured guy said; we whispered; para lang di marinig nung ibang teams. Haha.

A guy in orange suit said that we must all go down to the ground floor (but my teammates we’re all smirking; obvious na against sa instruction..hehe)

We walked through a narrow hallway, down the stairs until we reached the 2nd floor. In that moment, most of the people went down while we and some other teams took the 2nd floor.

TEAM TIMONGMALUSOG

Another dark hallway awaited us and we can see zombies waiting for us to pass. We did RULE NUMBER 3: WALK IN PACKS once again and gladly some teams came to join us.

“Panong gagawin natin?” a guy from another team asked us. “Sugod tayo lahat?”

“Act like a zombie nalang ulit” said Jerrick, my teammate. I guess it was a joke.. but the boys took it seriously and we did walked lke a zombie even if there is no instruction. Hahaha. Surprisingly, the zombies didn’t chase or harm us. Siguro they were laughing and saying “Anong pinaggagagawa netong mga to?”… it’s super funny, I swear.

And then we saw girls in camouflage.. waving at us. They are saying that they know the way to the narrows.. boys in camouflage also came saying that these girls are lying.. omg decision making once again. But the zombies made it easy for us.. why?.. because they chased us in the middle of the acting scene. Natakot tuloy yung mga tao kaya nagtakbuhan bago pa man makapagexplain yung mga NPC’s.. hahaha..

Then the girls said that they really know the way to the Narrows. “Congratulations because this is the right way!”. Everyone cheered and already celebrating… but of course the mission isn’t over yet. The girls showed us a map leading to Dra.Adarna.. it was far.. bummer… pagod na ako.. haha

Reading other blogs; Kaya daw pinili nung ibang team na dumeretso ng Ground Floor kasi kala nila doon ang exit, and taking the 2nd floor will lead you back to the mall.. buti nalang I know Festival Mall too well; may exit din sa 3rd floor and 2nd floor.. hihi.

So yun, enough with the side stories… together with a few other teams we headed to Dra. Adarna. First half of the way was zombie-free so we had time securing our remaining belts, readying our dummy flags and laughing off everything that happened inside the mall.

And there it was, the last road to the mission. Another long road like the one we had in the start of the race. I was cursing inside my head.. Sheett eto na naman po tayo.

Sabi ko nga, few teams lang kami so we waited for more teams para out numbered yung zombies. Hindi muna kami lumalapit… pero omg, yung mga zombies na yung naglalakad papalapit samin.

“Sugod na tayo lahat!” said a guy from other team. So before the zombies reached us, we all sprinted like hell. Takbuhan to the max talaga.. Halfway, to the light post I lost 2 of my dummy flags. Good thing I still have my legit flag… Haha..

I was alone na naman.. naiwan ako ng team ko, I saw my boyfriend and all his flags were gone.. As in 3 flags dati, nawala lahat.

We rested for a minute; ayan na naman yung mga zombies.. papalapit.. bawal ata magpahinga.. They are so aggressive as in, walang patawad.

My boyfriend Ronn, Kaye and ran on the side of the road.. dun sa madahon side.. feeling ko talaga madadapa ako kasi the ground was uneven pero thanks to adrenaline rush I made it to the end… no zombies got me! Yayy!!

We are relieved na.. we are just waiting for our team mates, kasi bawal pumasok ng tent pag hindi kayo kumpleto sa team. I was rested when a zombie approached us.. di ko pinansin kasi kala ko wala na kasi nasa end of the line na kami.. and all of a sudden… POOF!! He snatched my one and only remaining flag … I was so shocked and angry.. Nakakainis…

I feel like crying, because I was so proud na of completing this whole thing with just 1 flag left and then it was gone. And then I remember the flags I won from Boardwalk contest.. I hid them on my socks.. I got a green flag and a staple and placed it to my belt (Sorry Outbreak Missions.. I was desperate na.. and what your zombie did was so unfair, I am a survivor… I deserve to have a dog tag.. )

We lined up and fortunately, my flag was considered.. and I got my Outbreak Missions: Apocalypse Survivor dog tag.. haha!

Grabe.. the whole mission was super fun.. I wonder what could’ve happen if we chose to go straight to the ground floor.. pero at least we made the right decisions.

If you’re a true blue zombie fan you should definitely try Outbreak Missions.. I want to join pa, even if I felt like dying on the first part pa lang.. haha..
Mission Completed.. 5/10

Nga pala, one of my teammates got two loot bags kasi nakapulot sya ng belt during the mission.. Haha.. RULE 3: BE A SCAVENGER!!
